Psychometrics is a field of study concerned with the theory and technique of psychological measurement. Psychometrics field is concerned with the objective measurement of skills and knowledge, abilities, attitudes, personality traits, and educational achievement. Psychometrics gives us an opportunity to know more things about an individual which cannot be seen merely by observing his behaviour. We assess individual’s development on following aspects of life on the basis of principles of psychometrics.

Development Quotient:

Development Quotient helps to understands development of any person in measureable standard. Developmental test compare a baby’s performance on series of tasks with norms established on basis of observation of large numbers of activities that infant and toddler can do at that particular age.

It helps parents to understand child’s developmental age to know whether child’s development is delayed, average as per the age or more then child’s age.

Social Quotient:

Social Quotient helps to understand development of any person in social standard. As per the different age group child needs to achieve different social standard of their development. Social maturity play an important role in development of healthy personality of the child.

Intellectual Quotient:

Intelligent behaviour is goal directed and adaptive behaviour: directed towards adjusting o the circumstances and conditions of life. Intelligence enables people to acquire, remember, and use knowledge; to understand concepts and relationships; and to solve everyday problems.

IQ (intelligence quotient) tests consist of questions or tasks that are supposed to show how much of the measured abilities a person has, by comparing that person’s performance with that of other test – takers.

Personality testing:

Personality testing helps to evaluate normal personality profile, emotional disturbance, personality disorder, or normal development of personality etc.

Learning disability assessment:

L.D. children belong to average or above average intellectual functioning category. But they needs special help in selected subject like English, mathematics etc or writer is required. All children with L.D. can continue their education in normal school, even graduation and post graduation. They requires proper remedial education and counseling as the requirement.

Learning disability interferes with specific aspects of learning and school achievement. Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia.

Slow learner evaluation:

Slow learner requires helps in understanding concepts and study skills. Remedial education and shadow teacher plays an important role in managing slow learners study.

Attitude testing:

This test helps to measure child’s perspective towards self, society, parent, school, friends, study, overall environment etc. It is required to do this test in terms of understanding any emotional disturbance because of family problem, friends related issue, interpersonal relationship, self concept etc.

Gifted Child Evaluation:

Gifted children are always misunderstood by others. As per general observation it is seen that academically brilliant never require any help but they require it more. As their mental age is much higher than actual age, they find studies related their own class as very easy and least interesting. Normally they are observed as hyperactive, naughty etc.
